RUSSIAN for HERITAGE LEARNERS

A Pre-Immersion Learning Space for Middlebury's Davis School of Russian

HERITAGE RUSSIAN
welcome

HERITAGE LEARNERS

These lessons have been designed specifically for heritage learners of Russian, or learners who have grown up using Russian at home with their families or communities but have not formally studied the language. Because of the informal processes through which many heritage speakers acquired Russian, the heritage skill set when compared with traditional learners typically includes higher oral skills than written skills due to conversational use of Russian, as well as lower written/grammatical skills due to lack of formal study in academic settings. Thus, this learning space aims to specifically meet the needs of this unique learner profile. Welcome!
